This wireless thermometer was on sale for something like $15 at Fry's. My husband thought it was cool and so he bought one. I'd say it works appropriately for the price:).
The user interface is less than obvious. The manual is written in tiny font on a thick book of tiny paper. I'd recommend reading the manual on line. That was pretty easy: http://lacrossetechnology.com/9121/manual.pdf.
If you want to reset the min/max the trick is to hold down the min/max button for 3 seconds *after* you are in min mode.
Removing the battery from the main unit will loose the connection to the remote unit. Then you have to get both units and remove the batteries. Then add the battery to the remote unit followed by the battery to the monitor. Mess this up and you have to remove both batteries for 2 minutes and try again.
There is also no way to synchronize the data with a computer.
Still not bad for a cheap unit, but it may not be what you are looking for.
