My dog doesn't really like to play fetch, so I have to throw the ball in a precise spot and get the ball far and have it roll so he doesn't lose track of it. I found that as the dog gets slobber on the ball I can't throw it far enough and accurately enough. With the Chuckit Ultimate I can put it in the right spot every time.
Better yet, I found that I can convince the dog to play fetch longer (and he gets good exercise) by feeding him treats each time he returns the ball. He still doesn't play long or hard, but it's a start.
Also notice that this review is for the Chuckit Ultimate, it has a padded handle and is longer than some of the other Chuckit models. For dogs that play a lot the padding is helpful. The length is critical for long throws. I talked to some folks at the dog park and they all disliked the short models.
So if you're looking for a good dog toy to make fetch easier for you and more fun for your dog, try the ChuckIt Ultimate.
