Rob Thomas is the lead singer of MatchBox 20. This album has songs that range in styles. The songs range from upbeat sounds (perhaps not such up beat lyrics) like This is How a Heart Beats, to sad ballads like Now Comes the Night. Frankly I enjoy that, so I find the variety a bonus. Some songs include key changes, a feature that for some reason I really enjoy, I have no idea why!
The production values and mixing are reasonably good, but not outstanding. The producer decided to include some distortion that eventually grows on you, but still I would have liked a more clean mix. Also the CD I bought had difficulties tracking when played on my laptop. So I decided to copy it using Exact Audio Copy. There were numerous errors with that, although with time and repeated tries I eventually got an error free copy. This further points to poor pressing quality, or perhaps some other errors with the mixed DVD/CD product.
I didn't watch the DVD since it didn't include high quality copies of songs on it, but just some video. I would have preferred higher quality tracks to be available for my above average listening environment.
Overall this CD would have ranked a 5 except for all the technical difficulties I encountered, it's quite a nice album.
