I can't imagine a worse virus program. In fact the more optional components that you install, the worse this suite of programs messes up your computer. I'll give you an example, my Mom called with numerous problems with her computer. These included "the inability to get to the internet", the inability to "get email", and "messed up browser screens". My first question was if she had Norton on her computer. She said she did, and that remarkably the computer operated normally when she disabled it. I had her remove the software. Afterwords, she said everything worked properly and the machine was faster.
I have to say this is pretty typical of what I've heard from others with Norton. If you are thinking about getting this program or associated firewall programs, forget it. It will be your worst nightmare. Try Zone Alarm for a firewall and either TrendMicro's PC-cillin or Avast Anti-virus. They are both reliable, and don't seem to cause the kinds of problems associated with Norton. I'd advise against McAfee, it's only incrementally better than Norton.
Both Norton and McAfee started as good products that did what you want. Over time, they've gotten worse and worse until they are a liability and hazard to install. Worse yet, you pay again and again for the privilege of using them.
